I'm putting together my first gaming PC and have spent the last few hours learning about components and compatibility. My budget is approximately $2,300, including a 1440p 200Hz monitor. The current build uses a Ryzen 7 9800X3D, Peerless Assassin 120 SE cooler, B850 motherboard, 32GB of DDR5-6000 memory, a 2TB NVMe SSD, Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB graphics card, 750W Gold power supply, and a Montech XR case. The total comes to about $2,262. I'd appreciate feedback on component balance, value, and any improvements—especially whether the CPU is excessive for this graphics card and monitor combination.

The main issue is that the CPU is much stronger than the graphics card for a 1440p gaming system. A Ryzen 5 9600X or similar processor should be plenty for the RX 9060 XT, allowing more of the budget to go toward a faster GPU. Also double-check the memory and SSD prices—those listings look unusually expensive. For the SSD, a TLC-based drive would generally be preferable to the QLC model in the original list, especially if the prices are close.
For 1440p, I’d rebalance the build around the graphics card. A Ryzen 7 7800X3D paired with a Radeon RX 9070 XT would likely deliver a much better gaming experience than a 9800X3D paired with an RX 9060 XT. The 9070 XT is a stronger match for a high-refresh-rate 1440p monitor, while the older X3D processor still provides excellent gaming performance. An 850W Gold power supply would also give that larger GPU more headroom. The liquid cooler isn’t necessary for the 7800X3D; a good air cooler should be sufficient and simpler.
Would the RX 9070 XT also pair well with the 9800X3D, or would it make more sense to reduce the CPU and keep the rest of the system balanced? I’ve heard the higher-end graphics card is worth the extra cost, but I’m not sure where the best value is.
