I'm planning a new gaming PC in the US with a budget of roughly $2,500, including a monitor. My current system has an RTX 3070, 16GB of DDR4 memory, and an older Core i7 that struggles with newer games at high settings. I'd like a significant upgrade and want to make sure this parts list is sensible before buying.
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
CPU cooler: be quiet! Dark Rock Elite
Motherboard: MSI MAG B850 TOMAHAWK MAX
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 32GB DDR5-6000 CL30
Storage: Samsung 990 Pro 1TB
GPU: MSI Gaming Trio OC GeForce RTX 5070 Ti 16GB
Case: Corsair FRAME 4000D RS ARGB ATX Mid Tower
Power supply: Corsair RM850x 850W fully modular
Monitor: MSI QHD 165Hz
I've done some preliminary research and checked the parts in a compatibility builder, but I'm still new to choosing components. Are there any compatibility concerns, obvious weak points, or better ways to spend the budget?

Put the complete list into a parts-compatibility tool and check whether a nearby retailer has bundle deals. A store such as Micro Center may have useful CPU, motherboard, and memory packages, so pricing could change which parts make the most sense.
If you need the system now, waiting for prices to fall may not help much. Hardware pricing can be unpredictable, so focus on getting a well-balanced configuration from reputable parts rather than endlessly delaying the build. Your current system is old enough that this should feel like a substantial upgrade, especially at 1440p.
The build is generally aimed at a strong 1440p setup. An 850W power supply is fine, but if you find a reliable 750W unit at a good price, the savings could go toward a newer X3D processor, a second or larger SSD, or a better monitor. Since you’re moving to a powerful graphics card, upgrading beyond a basic 165Hz QHD display would also be worth considering.
I was already wondering whether it made sense to upgrade the monitor too, so that may be a good place to use any savings.

I’m disappointed I didn’t upgrade earlier, but I don’t expect prices to drop soon. I’ll probably move forward and hope the system lasts for several years.
