I've been building my own PCs since 2017, and this will be my first truly high-end system now that I can afford one. I'm especially excited about the visual design, but I'd like a sanity check before finalizing everything. The build includes a Ryzen 7 9800X3D, RTX 5080, 32GB of DDR5-6000 memory, a 4TB PCIe 5.0 SSD, a high-end X870E motherboard, a 360mm liquid cooler, a 1000W Titanium power supply, and several matching RGB fans and lighting components. The current list comes to about $5,057, not including the case price. I've already purchased the graphics card because I was concerned about future price increases, so that part is fixed. I'm open to suggestions about compatibility, performance, value, cooling, storage, memory capacity, and anywhere I can improve the build while keeping the overall aesthetic.

The main concern isn’t compatibility; it’s value. You could build a substantially faster and more balanced system for this budget, or even include a custom cooling loop while spending less. The 1000W Titanium power supply and premium motherboard are fine, but they’re more luxury choices than necessities. A less expensive X870 board, a quality PCIe 4.0 4TB SSD, and fewer matching fan packs could save well over $1,000 while preserving a similar visual theme. If you want to spend the money on performance, consider 64GB of RAM and the Ryzen 9 9950X3D for additional cores and threads. Also remember that the case still needs to be added to the listed total, so the final cost will be even higher.
Everything should be compatible, but the pricing is heavily skewed toward cosmetics. A Ryzen 7 9800X3D and RTX 5080 system should generally cost much less than $5,000. The liquid cooler, premium display-equipped components, four sets of fans, extremely expensive PCIe 5.0 SSD, and top-tier motherboard add a huge amount without providing much extra gaming performance. The four-terabyte drive is particularly difficult to justify when a good PCIe 4.0 model would be roughly half the price and feel the same in most real-world use. Also, 32GB of memory is a little low for a build at this budget; moving to 64GB would make more sense.

That makes sense. I realized the SSD was an easy place to cut costs and can save about $500 there. I’d still like to keep the coordinated display and RGB look, but I’m considering using the savings for 64GB of memory and possibly a Ryzen 9 9950X3D. Where else would you trim without sacrificing the overall design?
