I'm helping a friend set up a gaming PC with a budget between $1500 and $1800. He doesn't care about RGB and is primarily focused on gaming performance. I've put together a parts list, and I'd like some feedback on whether the components are well-balanced or if there are any better options to ensure he gets the best performance for his budget.

Your build looks solid, but there are better GPU options out there if your friend is near a Micro Center. Check out this alternative parts list I made for better performance. It features a similar CPU but improves cooling and motherboard quality without breaking the bank.

Good point on checking Micro Center! They often have great deals on GPUs that can save a lot.

Thanks for the heads up! I'll tell him to check it out.

Overall, this is a decent build. However, I recommend switching to a better SSD, one that doesn’t use QLC NAND, for better performance. Here's a list I put together that offers better value while keeping performance high for gaming.

If gaming's the focus and RGB isn't a priority, you might be interested in this build. The 7700X offers great performance with solid cores for gaming, paired with a top-notch RX 9070XT for high FPS across the board. It’s slightly over budget but worth considering due to the components' quality and upgrade potential.

Consider swapping the NVMe SSD for a Silicon Power UD90. It's a cheaper option that still delivers great performance. Additionally, if possible, aim for an RX 9070 for an improved gaming experience. That would provide a noticeable boost!
