I've been following a YouTube video to assemble my first PC, aiming for a budget around £1500. The components suggested seemed good, but I was taken aback by the frame rates mentioned at the end. For example, it only ran Call of Duty at 90 fps, which feels quite low for that price point. Here's what I have so far:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 9600 3.8 GHz 6-Core Processor
- CPU Cooler: Deepcool LQ360 55 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler
- Motherboard: Gigabyte B850 AORUS ELITE WIFI7 ICE ATX AM5
- Memory: Corsair Vengeance RGB 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL36
- Storage: Crucial P310 1 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME
- Graphics Card: PowerColor Hellhound OC Radeon RX 9060 XT 16 GB
- Case: Antec C5 ARGB ATX Mid Tower
- Power Supply: Corsair RM750e (2025) 750 W Fully Modular
Also, I'm confused about which operating system to choose. Can someone tell me if this build is solid for £1500, or if I should consider making changes?

I can offer you a second-hand build with better specs than this one for less. Just hit me up.
It really depends on your graphics settings. If you're running at ultra, 90 fps is understandable. But overall, this is a good PC. Don't forget that frame rates can vary widely based on the game and settings used.
Make sure to clarify your use case. For a new gaming setup, Windows 11 is the best choice. You might also consider switching to a dual-tower air cooler for reliability and performance. As far as RAM goes, 16 GB is becoming the minimum, especially for gaming, but you could always add more later if needed.
This is a solid build overall. You might save some money by downgrading the CPU cooler, but it won't affect performance significantly. Call of Duty is often poorly optimized, so 90 fps isn't that surprising, especially at high settings. In reality, you might see better performance in other games. For the operating system, just go with Windows—there are cheap or free ways to activate it online.
Definitely a decent build, but I managed to build a similar system for £1200, making a slight upgrade with the Ryzen 5 9600x instead. You might want to shop around for better deals on parts.
