Should I Upgrade My GPU Now or Wait for Better Options?

I'm considering upgrading my PC setup, which currently has a 3060 with 12GB of VRAM and an R5 5600. I'm looking at either the Palit 5050 8GB or the PNY 4060 Verto 8GB, with the 4060 being a bit cheaper. My focus is mainly on FPS games, but I also enjoy single-player titles, and I'm hoping to play GTA 6 when it comes out. Can anyone suggest which GPU would be the better choice or recommend options within a similar price range? I'd really appreciate any help!

If you're debating between those two, I would actually go for the AMD 9060 16GB over the 5050 8GB, especially if they're close in price. But if you're set on Nvidia, the 5050 has a slight edge over the 4060 due to its better feature set. Just keep in mind that GTA 6 isn't releasing until 2028 at the earliest, so the specs are still a mystery, and it's tough to say if even the 5050 will hold up for it. Just food for thought!

That makes sense! I just hope GTA 6 runs on something reasonable; I was surprised by how well optimized the last games were.

I really wouldn't bother with the 5050 or 4060; it's just not a big enough jump from your 3060. I'd recommend saving for a used 3080 instead; they're similar in price but offer way better performance. If GTA 6 is your main concern, your current setup should be fine for now. Just upgrade later when you have a clearer idea of the game's requirements!

Honestly, you might want to skip both those options. Upgrading to either won't get you much of a performance boost—maybe 10% more frames, and you'll actually lose 4GB of VRAM with the 4060. Instead, I'd wait and look for a current-gen 60 or 70 class GPU for a worthwhile upgrade. Plus, the 3060 is still really popular, so it could very well meet minimum requirements for future games like GTA 6.
