I'm about to inherit a new PC from my family—it's got a 2080 Super and an i7 9700K—and I'm trying to figure out if it's a major step up from my current setup, which is a 1660 Super paired with a Ryzen 5 3600. My current rig has been okay, but multitasking has become a struggle; just running Discord while gaming causes some serious stutters. I'm mostly playing competitive and AAA games at 1080p and 144Hz, so I'm feeling the pinch. Also, I'm looking at paying about $200-$300 for this new PC. Do you think this upgrade is worth it?

Honestly, you might want to drop the 2080 Super into your Ryzen setup if you can. Selling off the i7 and Intel motherboard could free up some cash. The 5700X3D is a strong option, but if your current setup is fine for you, a straightforward GPU upgrade might do the trick for now!
I’m worried my prebuilt has a weak PSU and a small case which might make fitting the 2080 tricky. Even if I could, would I really need the 5700X3D or would the 9700K still be sufficient?
