I'm considering whether upgrading from my current 7900 GRE to a 9070 XT is worth the investment. I usually game at 1440p and feel pretty satisfied with the 7900 GRE, but I'm curious about potential performance gains. I want a bit more frame rate and better graphics settings since I primarily play shooters but do so casually and enjoy nice visuals. My current setup includes a 5800X3D processor and 32 GB of DDR4 RAM running at 3600MHz.

Considering you want better visuals while playing casually, upgrading could help reduce reliance on optiscaler and take full advantage of FSR 4.1, which is fantastic at the moment. Plus, the 9070 XT is still reasonably priced if you look around.
I recently jumped from a 6950XT, and while that’s a similar performance upgrade, I only did it for 4K gaming. If you’re focused on 1440p, I don’t see the benefit unless you can sell your current GPU for a good price. With FSR4 and features like optiscaler, you might be able to get the quality you want without the need to upgrade.
I’ve got a similar setup with a 5800X3D and a 7900 XT. Honestly, unless you’re really trying to max out settings or playing on a huge 4K display, there’s not much need to upgrade right now. For a resolution like 3440x1440, your 7900 GRE should handle most AAA titles just fine. If you could find a sweet deal on a new card that gives you at least a 20% performance boost without spending much more, it might be worth considering. Otherwise, I’d stick with what you have—upgrading can get pricey, especially for substantial gains.

Yeah, your current card is still pretty solid and ranked quite well. Only upgrade if you really see the value for money.
