Is Upgrading from a 3060 Ti to an RX 9060 XT 16GB Worth It?

I've noticed a significant price drop in AMD GPUs where I live, and I'm considering upgrading from my RTX 3060 Ti to an RX 9060 XT 16GB. My last upgrade from a GTX 960 to the 3060 Ti was amazing, but I'm a bit unsure if this new upgrade will bring enough improvement. I mainly game at 1440p, mostly playing campaigns and not the latest titles. I manage 1440p with a bit of DLSS, but I'm interested to know if this new GPU would be a substantial upgrade, especially regarding performance and how FSR4 compares to DLSS. The RX 9060 XT costs around R$2500 (about $486 USD) here, which is the best deal I've found since the higher models are much more expensive. Here's my PC setup for reference: Ryzen 7 5700x, B550M, 16GB DDR4, NVMe 2TB, and a Gigabyte 650W PSU.

Upgrading to the RX 9060 XT will give you about a 22% performance boost, but it might not feel like a huge leap after your last upgrade. If you're okay with using DLSS for your games, you could stick with the 3060 Ti a bit longer since it still handles 1440p well. Also, considering NVIDIA might release newer 3060 cards, you could benefit from longer driver support too.

Yeah, I agree! If you’re only playing older titles, your current card should still hold up. Maybe saving for a more powerful upgrade later could be the better play.

Honestly, if you're looking at the 9060 XT, it’s more about handling higher resolutions easily thanks to its 16GB RAM. For the games you mentioned, you’ll notice some improvements, but it's not going to revolutionize your gaming experience. If you play less demanding games, this upgrade might be fine, but it might be worth holding out for a bigger jump like the 9070 XT if your budget allows.

True! Also, keep in mind that some games can be pretty CPU intensive, so don't forget that aspect. But yeah, if you're sticking mainly to older titles, 9060 XT should work for you.

If you’re on a tight budget, the 9060 XT is a decent choice, especially since it’s well-suited for older titles. But remember, newer titles can be more demanding. It might be wise to invest in a more powerful GPU in the future instead of going for this upgrade now if you want to stay ahead.

Yep, exactly! Older games will run well with it, but the newer stuff could be challenging. It's all about managing expectations!

I’d recommend holding out for the 9070 XT if you can. It’s a more significant upgrade that would give you better performance overall. But do keep in mind that you'll need a stronger PSU, ideally 700W for the 9070 XT, so factor that into your decision too.

Good point! You might run into issues with your 650W PSU when trying to push the 9070 XT, especially for demanding games. It’s something to think about!
