Is Upgrading from a 3700X to a 5700X3D Worth It for Gaming?

Hey everyone! I'm looking for some advice on whether upgrading from my Ryzen 7 3700X to a Ryzen 7 5700X3D would be a good idea. I currently have 32GB of DDR4-3200 RAM and an RX 9070XT. I've noticed that my CPU seems to be bottlenecking my GPU performance. If I make the upgrade, how much of a performance boost in gaming should I expect? Also, I'm curious if switching to the AM5 platform might be a better long-term option. Any suggestions or insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If you're into e-sports or playing on lower settings, the performance jump will be massive. The 5700X3D also holds up well for 1440p gaming. Plus, it can be a good stopgap before moving to AM6 if you want to save some cash. You could consider buying used and then reselling it when you make your next big upgrade for more savings in the long run!

Absolutely, upgrading to the 5700X3D is a solid choice! You can expect to nearly double your CPU performance, especially since you're using a powerful GPU like the RX 9070XT. The 3700X is definitely holding back your graphics card. I also suggest not overthinking it too much; these CPUs can get scarce quickly. Just look at the 5800X3D, which disappeared from shelves. I wouldn’t wait too long!

It really depends on your situation. If you're considering switching to AM5, remember that the 7500F, 7600, and 7600X perform comparably to the 5700X3D. Price-wise, the 5700X3D is around $265, while you could build a budget setup with a 7500F for about $138, including the motherboard and DDR5. Might save you some bucks in the end!

Go for the 5700X3D! It should serve you well for a long time until you decide to switch to AM5. It’s a practical upgrade that's worth it at this price point!
