Is Upgrading from a 4070 to a 9070 Worth It?

I just picked up a 9070 XFX for $650 (which is about $711 after tax). There's someone interested in buying my 4070 for $550. Considering I mostly game at 1440p, is it worth spending an extra $161 for this upgrade? I'm drawn to the idea of having 16GB of VRAM for the future, but I'm also curious if the performance boost will be substantial enough to make a difference.

The 9070 is a significant upgrade over the 4070. You'll gain about 30-40% better performance in raster graphics, which is great for 1440p gaming! Plus, with 16GB of VRAM, you're set for the future. I'd say go for it—definitely worth the extra cash!

Exactly! I feel like I'm balancing out the higher purchase with the good sale on my 4070. Plus, that 16GB will help for the years to come.

If you're looking for a performance boost and planning to keep your card for a while, it's a smart move. A lot of players regret not getting more VRAM down the line, especially with new games coming out. You'll appreciate that extra capacity at 1440p!

I'm not sure about switching brands, though. From Nvidia to AMD? That's a bigger risk unless you're super into the specs. Just make sure it's what you really want!

I get that! But the performance gains and extra VRAM really caught my eye. Plus, FSR has improved a lot recently! Seems worth checking out.

Selling your 4070 for $550 is actually a pretty sweet deal nowadays. Given how GPU prices have been fluctuating, you're in a decent spot. I went from a 4070 to a 5070 Ti myself, and it made a noticeable difference!

Thanks! That's encouraging to hear. Just trying to stay ahead amid all these rising prices!

Honestly, it's a fantastic upgrade for the price! I just wonder who would actually pay $550 for a 4070. Seems high, right?
