Is upgrading from a 5600X to a 5800X worth it?

Hey folks! I'm currently running a build with a Ryzen 5600X CPU and a Radeon 9060XT GPU, along with 32GB of 3200 DDR4 RAM. I game at 1440p and 4k, but I've noticed my CPU maxes out at 100% usage during gaming sessions where I'm also streaming YouTube and using Discord, which causes some stuttering. I'm considering whether it's worth spending about $200 to upgrade to a 5800X now or if I should wait for the AM6 setup since the newer x3d chips feel overpriced to me. Do you think upgrading would improve my 1% lows and overall consistency in gaming?

Make sure to use monitoring tools that show all threads clearly. If you're maxing out just a few cores while others sit idle, upgrading might not help as much. But if all 12 threads are consistently being used, then a 5800X could really benefit your performance.

A 5800X doesn't bring a huge performance leap over a 5600X, especially at higher resolutions. Since you're streaming video, have you checked if toggling GPU acceleration for playback helps with your stutter?

Before making any decisions, check to see if you're squeezing out all the performance possible from your 5600X. Look at your CPU temperatures, boost clocks, and ensure all 6 cores and 12 threads are being utilized.

Honestly, it might not be worth it for just a slight improvement. If you're only expecting marginal gains, consider saving for a DDR5 setup instead. If upgrading is a must, only do it if it costs you around $30-$40 after selling your 5600X.

Upgrading will help, but make sure you've got a good cooler since the 5800X can run pretty hot. By the way, the XT version is a solid choice and it often comes with a decent Wraith Prism cooler.

Yeah, they launched the XT version a couple of years back, and it should work well with the right cooling setup.

You might want to upgrade to an 8-core CPU. It can make a significant difference in performance while gaming, especially with the multitasking you’re doing.
