I'm considering an upgrade from my current 5600X, which I've had for about three years, to a 9600X. My budget is around €200, and I've heard the 9600X offers good value for its price. However, I'm also aware that I would need a new motherboard. I'm looking at the ASROCK B650M-HDV/M.2 as a budget option. Just for context, my current setup includes an RX 6800, and I game at 1440p. Are there better alternatives I should consider?

Just a heads-up, you'll need new RAM along with the motherboard for the upgrade. There's not much point in upgrading if you're not hitting any CPU bottlenecks, and unfortunately, RAM prices are really high right now.
Yeah, prices are definitely rough at the moment!
With DDR5 prices currently soaring, upgrading can get quite expensive. Have you considered riding it out with the 5600X a bit longer? If you're looking for budget options, used 5700X3D or 5800X3D could be a better deal if you can find them around €250 total. It might even make more sense than going for the 9600X setup with all the additional costs involved.
I’m playing with an RX 6800 at 1440p too and didn't realize the RAM cost would be so significant. What’s a good price for those 5700X3D or 5800X3D chips if I can find them?
I'd be cautious about going with an ASROCK board for a 9000 series CPU. There are plenty of reports of the 9600X failing on that motherboard. It's probably safer to look at other brands.
Yeah, I've heard those warnings too. Better safe than sorry!

I didn't realize I'd need new RAM too, that definitely changes things for me. Thanks for the heads up!
