I'm considering an upgrade from my current 7600X to the 9800X3D, which is on sale for $449. If I trade in my 7600X, I can get it for $329. I'm curious if this upgrade is worth it, especially since I hope it will last me around 10 years. Also, I have a Peerless Assassin air cooler—will that be sufficient for cooling the new 9800X3D?

Your Peerless Assassin cooler should handle the 9800X3D just fine! It’s a pretty robust cooler, so no need to swap it out unless you're planning to overclock heavily. By the way, what GPU do you have? It could affect your overall gaming experience as well.
Upgrading to the 9800X3D sounds like a solid plan if you're looking for a long-term solution! It's a significant performance boost. If you're set on keeping it for a decade, this could be a worthwhile investment. Just keep in mind, if you can hold out for the 9850X3D, it might be even better in the future!

I currently have a 9070XT. I just upgraded from a 6950XT, which was overheating like crazy!
