I've been using a GTX 1650 since 2020 and I'm considering upgrading to an RTX 4060 now that I can afford one. However, I've come across a lot of opinions suggesting that the RTX 4060 isn't the best bang for your buck. For context, I'm happy with gaming at around 60 fps, and I'm aware that in Australia, GPU prices are a bit all over the place. I've noticed that many people think the 7800XT is much better, but it costs about 750 AUD compared to 480 AUD for the RTX 4060. My current setup includes an i5-11400, 16GB RAM, a B560M-A PRO Motherboard, and a GIGABYTE GP-P650B 650W power supply. So my main question is: is it worth it to upgrade to the RTX 4060 for better performance, given I'm moving up from a GTX 1650 and focused on 60 FPS gaming?

In terms of a performance upgrade, going from a GTX 1650 to an RTX 4060 will be significant. Plus, the additional access to DLSS and frame generation technology is a nice bonus. Just keep in mind the VRAM limitations for future-proofing your gaming.
The RTX 4060 will definitely be a step up from your GTX 1650 in terms of performance. That said, be cautious with its 8GB of VRAM because by 2025, that could be a bit limiting for newer games. If you're considering Nvidia features like NVenc, DLSS, or Ray Tracing, and you can find it at a reasonable price, then it's a decent upgrade. But keep an eye out for the upcoming RTX 5060 as it might be priced similarly. If you're mainly gaming, you might get better performance by opting for cards like the RX 7600 or RX 6600/6650 XT, which could save you some cash.
Honestly, if possible, consider going for a GPU with more than 8GB. It could really make a difference in performance, and over time, upgrading other parts of your build can yield significant improvements. Trust me, once you experience gaming at 120 fps, going back to 60 won't feel the same!
I second that! Higher fps makes a huge difference.
I'd recommend checking out the Intel Arc B580 instead, even though it might have some minor issues now, Intel is actively working on improving it. It could serve as a great alternative to the RTX 4060 and may offer you better performance overall.
Thanks for the suggestion! I'll definitely look into it.
Totally agree! The 4060 might not be the best value compared to those alternatives.
