I've had my PC for about four years now and I'm considering a complete upgrade. Right now, I'm using a GTX 1660 and I'm thinking of moving to a 1440p resolution. I've been eyeing the RTX 5070, which is priced at 619 euros, and it also comes with a game voucher. I've heard mixed reviews about this GPU though, but it's really my only option within my budget of 700 euros. Is the RTX 5070 a significant upgrade from my current setup?

That's definitely a good upgrade for 1440p. With the game and voucher included, the price seems right. Definitely worth it!
Upgrading to the 5070 is a massive leap! Ignore the critics; this card is solid and the 12GB of VRAM should be great for 1440p gaming, especially unless you're diving deep into heavy ray tracing.
Honestly, the 5070's 12GB VRAM is a bit of a gamble for future-proofing; I’d hold out for a better deal. If you do go for it, just ensure your PSU can handle it since upgrades might add to your overall costs. Maybe wait for a possible Super variant instead?
Was wondering if a 750W PSU would be enough for it?
Going from that old 1660 to a 5070 feels like going from a school bus to a SpaceX rocket!
Haha! That's exactly what I want!
You might find a 9070 available for under 700 euros. It could be a smarter choice because it has more VRAM, making it more future-proof against Nvidia's driver issues.
I'm in the Netherlands; I'm looking mainly for an Nvidia card for smoother experiences in story-based games.
The 5070 is a solid choice; they’re sorting the drivers out now, which is a plus!
The 5070 at its current price is possibly your best bet. If you want an Nvidia card, you could also look for the 5060 Ti or a 4070 Super if you can find one. But really, if you're ready to buy, go for the 5070!
I could grab a 5060 Ti for 470, but not sure it's up for 1440p gaming.
I made a similar jump from a 1060 to a 5070, and it was fantastic! My frame rates shot up in games like Dota 2 and Valorant! For example, Dota went from 200 fps to 350 fps with way less GPU load. You'll love the difference!
For that price, definitely get the 5070! It'll massively enhance your gaming experience!
With your current 1660, trust me, this will feel like a huge step up! 😂😂
Yeah, but a used 2080 would also be an upgrade. The real question is if it's worth it compared to other options.
I have a 4070 Super for 1440p and can confirm! The only time you might need more VRAM is with intense ray tracing. My old 3070 handled games like Portal RTX really well, so unless you really push it, the 5070 will do just fine.
