Would moving to a Ryzen 7 9800X3D provide a noticeable improvement, or would the graphics card remain the main limitation? I understand that switching from AM4 to AM5 would also require a new motherboard and DDR5 memory.

A newer X3D chip can improve frame-time consistency and loading behavior, but don’t assume every improvement comes from the CPU. In one upgrade, the biggest loading-time change came from replacing an older PCIe 3.0 SSD with a much faster PCIe 5.0 drive. Also, the newer CPU may run noticeably hotter than the 5700X3D, so cooling matters.
It’s not just a CPU swap. The 5700X3D uses AM4 and DDR4, while the 9800X3D requires an AM5 motherboard and DDR5, so the upgrade becomes a full platform change. Make sure the performance gain is worth the cost of the processor, board, and memory together.
At 4K with DLSS Quality, you’ll usually be limited by the RTX 5070 Ti before the 5700X3D becomes a major problem. The 9800X3D can help with CPU-heavy games, high refresh rates, minimum FPS, and some stutter, but in many 4K titles the difference probably won’t justify replacing the entire platform.
