Is upgrading from an Intel i5-10400F to a Ryzen 5 7600X3D worth it?

I'm considering upgrading my setup from an Intel i5-10400F to a Ryzen 5 7600X3D. Here are the specs of my current build:
- Intel i5-10400F
- Gigabyte RX 9060 XT 16GB OC
- Z490I AORUS
- 1x16GB DDR4 3200 MHz RAM
- 750 Watt NZXT PSU
- Cooler Master MasterBox NR200P

I've been fine with the i5 until now, but I've hit a wall with Battlefield 6, capped at 60fps due to my CPU. I'm wondering if making the jump to Ryzen is justified, or if I'm just overspending. I'm also curious if the AM5 platform and the 7600X3D will still hold up well for future GPU upgrades. Gaming is my primary focus, particularly on titles like Battlefield, CS2, Overwatch, and World of Warcraft. I prioritize frame rates and would be fine lowering graphics for better stability, although I want to maintain 1440p. Any advice would be appreciated!

Keep in mind, upgrading means you'll need a new motherboard and DDR5 RAM, which can be pricey right now. If you’re not ready for that expense, consider sticking with your current setup a bit longer. I’ve seen some good deals on the i5-14400 as an alternative that might suit you without needing to switch your whole rig.

I hear you! I bought one stick of RAM initially to save money, but now it’s crazy expensive to upgrade. Might have to hold off for a while.

Absolutely, upgrading to the Ryzen 5 7600X3D would be a significant boost! You'll notice a massive improvement in gaming performance, especially with titles like Battlefield 6. The extra cores and threads will help keep your frame rates high and also make multitasking smoother.
