I'm considering upgrading my CPU from an i7-8700k to an i9-9900k since I've heard it's the best I can use with my current motherboard. I just recently upgraded my GPU from a 1080ti to a 4070. My goal is to avoid any bottlenecks while playing my golf simulation game, GSPro, at ultra settings. Right now, I'm gaming at 1080p because of my projector. Is this CPU upgrade worth it, or should I consider other options?

Honestly, the upgrade to the 9900k isn't going to be a huge boost for you. It's pretty pricey too, considering it's one of the best CPUs for that socket. You might want to hold off on it.
Going for the latest generation would be a better bet. Instead of the 9900k, consider the newer 14th gen or even the ultra series chips. It'll give you better performance overall.
If you've overclocked your i7-8700k, you'll find it's not much slower than a 10700k or 11700k. It might be better to save your cash for a more modern upgrade—like going for an AM5 setup if it's mostly for gaming.

Keep an eye out for deals. If you're near a Microcenter, you might find good prices for AM5 setups that include RAM too!
