I'm thinking about upgrading from my RTX 4060 Ti 8GB to an RTX 3080 10GB that a friend is selling for about $360. I believe I could sell my current card for around $300. Is this upgrade worth it in terms of performance? Also, are there any significant technological advancements with the 4060 Ti compared to the 3080, aside from lower power consumption? Thanks for your insights!

It really depends on what you play. If it's mostly online shooters, the upgrade might be worth it. However, if you're playing casual games, the 4060 Ti is more than enough, especially with newer features like frame generation that might really make a difference in some titles.
Honestly, I’d say no to the upgrade if you’re just looking for better general performance. The 4060 Ti is already pretty solid for most games, and the 3080 may not be worth that investment unless you're playing something that really demands it.
If you're looking long-term, maybe consider saving a bit more and getting something newer like the 9070 XT instead. The 3080 is getting a bit old, and you never know what 'lightly used' really means.
I'm in the same boat—gaming on Age of Empires and a few other titles. The 3080 might perform better for new games like Doom, but I would say weigh that against how often you play those demanding titles.
The 3080 does have a noticeable performance boost, especially in more demanding titles. If you're planning to play graphically intense games, it could justify the switch. But if you're mostly in Photoshop or lighter games, you might not need it.

I mainly use my GPU for Photoshop and Lightroom too, and the 4060 Ti handles that well. I play Age of Empires and some other light games, so I think I'll stick with what I have for now.
