I'm considering upgrading my current Ryzen 5 2600, which has served me well since I built my PC in 2019, to a Ryzen 7 5800X. With the rising prices of RAM and GPUs, I'm unsure whether to stick with my older setup until I can afford a new build in 2026-2027 or make the jump now. I upgraded my GPU to an RX 7600 in 2023, and I'm curious about the performance boost in gaming I'd get from this CPU upgrade. Should I go for it or wait for an AM5 setup?

If you're after a smoother gaming experience now, go for the 5800X. It’s a great upgrade without a massive investment. Just keep in mind that while AM4 is being phased out, it should still handle games quite well for a few more years! Make sure your cooling is good to handle the new chip, though.
I still use a Ryzen 2700X, and I've upgraded my setup with a 4070Ti and a 5700X. Trust me, you'll appreciate the performance increase for a few more years. Go for it, you won't regret it!
Consider grabbing the 5800X3D for better performance, but only if you find a good deal. Overall, the 5800X is a worthwhile upgrade from your current setup. Just be ready that AM4 isn't the long-term solution, so it's more of a stopgap until you're ready for an AM5 build.
Absolutely! Upgrading to a 5800X from a 2600 is a solid choice. I made a similar leap from a Ryzen 3600 to a 5700X and really felt the difference in performance, especially in gaming. You should definitely see a considerable boost!
Same here, I experienced a big performance jump when I upgraded as well.
For sure! Just check your motherboard compatibility and see if you need a BIOS update before the swap. It can really breathe new life into your PC!

Yeah, ensure your cooler is up to snuff! You don't want to run into thermal issues.
