Is upgrading from Ryzen 5 5500 to 5600 worth the cost?

I've been running into CPU bottlenecks while gaming, especially with my RX 7600. I was considering an upgrade from a Ryzen 5 5500 to a Ryzen 5 5600 non-X. I found a deal for around $70, and I'm curious if this would provide a noticeable performance increase. I had planned to switch to AM5 this year, but the rising RAM prices have put that on hold. I also thought about the 5700X or X3D, but they're much more expensive—around triple the 5600's price.

The 5600 gives you a nice performance boost thanks to the extra cache, plus $70 sounds like a pretty good deal. Just curious, what games are you noticing the CPU bottleneck in?

I’d recommend going for the 5600X instead. If the price gap is just $50, you’ll get better performance, especially in future-proofing your system.

It's definitely worth it! You have a bottleneck issue, which is common in gaming. If the prices are close, I’d recommend considering the 5600X for just a little more performance, but the 5600 should definitely improve your gaming experience.

I was thinking about the X version but it’s an extra $50. Do you think that’s worth it?

Go ahead and snag the 5600! You can probably sell your 5500 for around $40, so your net upgrade cost would only be about $30. Totally worth it!
