Hey all! I'm getting ready to set up my PC build after a long break, and I want to optimize it for gaming. Right now, I have a rig that includes an RTX 3080ti, 32GB of DDR4-3200 RAM, and a Ryzen 7 3700x CPU, paired with a 1440p OLED display and an Asus ROG STRIX B550-F motherboard.
I typically play GPU-heavy singleplayer games, but I also dive into competitive CPU-demanding titles occasionally. Previously, I gamed on a 4k monitor which put less strain on the CPU, but now I'm focusing on getting the best performance out of my current setup for at least the next three years.
I'm wondering if moving from the 3700x to a 5700x is a worthwhile investment, especially considering there could be potential CPU bottlenecking at 1440p. I'll also mention that while a 5700x3d would be ideal, I'm not looking to spend a fortune on a CPU upgrade right now. Any insights would be greatly appreciated!
