I'm considering upgrading my CPU as I've recently started playing Battlefield 6, and I'm not getting the performance I expected. Is upgrading from a Ryzen 7 5800X to a Ryzen 7 5800X3D AM4 worth it in terms of price and performance? Or would it be better to hold off and save for a completely new system?

In the long run, it might be smarter to save up for an AM5 system rather than going for the X3D. The prices for used parts are skyrocketing, but a new platform could be a better investment later on.
Honestly, unless you're ready to spend about $300 on a used CPU for only marginal gains, it might not be the best option. If you already have a 5800X, sticking with it could be the way to go.
Right? Investing in something like more RAM or better cooling would help you out more in the long run!
Since you’re already on a 5800X, I wouldn't rush for the X3D. Those are pretty pricey now and not in production anymore. You're better off putting that cash towards a new GPU or some more RAM, especially with the current hardware situation.
Exactly! I upgraded to 32GB of RAM and my performance improved dramatically without switching CPUs.
I’d say it’s a slight performance boost, but probably not worth the investment right now. I’d recommend adding another 16GB of RAM instead to improve your overall performance without breaking the bank.
Yeah, doubling your RAM is a smart move. I have a similar setup and it made a huge difference!
If you’re hitting around 150 FPS in BF6 and it feels smooth, maybe you don’t need the upgrade. But if you're aiming for higher frame rates or more stability, consider what you mean by 'optimal performance.'
I think I’m doing okay around 60fps, but occasionally it dips, which is frustrating! I guess it depends on what you find acceptable.

True, but the costs for AM5 components are insane! I might have to wait for AM6 at this point.
