Is Upgrading My CPU Worth It for Gaming?

Hey everyone! I'm trying to improve my gaming performance, specifically to increase my frame rates. Right now, I'm using an i5-12400 processor along with a 3060 12GB graphics card. I'm considering whether it's better to upgrade to an i7-12700KF or if I should focus on saving up to upgrade both my CPU and GPU down the line. I primarily game at 1080p, so I'm not sure if I need to prioritize the CPU upgrade or if it's smarter to go for a better GPU first. Let me know if you need any more specifications!

The i5-12400 is actually a solid match for your 3060. Upgrading to the i7-12700KF might not provide a significant boost in your gaming experience. Instead, if you upgrade your GPU, like moving to something better instead, you'd probably notice a bigger performance increase. There's a minimal gain when going from a 12400 to a 12700, especially with your current setup at 1080p. So unless you're planning on upgrading to a much more powerful graphics card, stick with what you have for now!

I see your point, but I think if the user moved to a higher resolution, then upgrading the GPU might show better results. At 1080p, though, a better CPU might be more beneficial.
