Is Upgrading My Desktop for Blender Worth It?

I'm considering an upgrade for my desktop that's been crashing frequently. Despite taking it for repairs twice, the issues persist. Currently, my setup has an i7 12th gen, 32GB DDR4 RAM, and an RTX 3070 with 8GB VRAM. I've found a new desktop with a Ryzen 7 9800X3D, 32GB, 2TB SSD, and an RTX 5070 Ti with 16GB VRAM for around €2300. While it's a bit pricey for me, I'm curious if this would be a good choice for using Blender and if I would see a significant improvement from my current setup, without the constant crashing.

Sounds like you've got a frustrating situation! Crashing can often be fixed without a full upgrade. Have you checked the temperature of your components? Sometimes overheating can cause issues like you're describing. My advice is to troubleshoot the current setup before committing to a new one. You might not need to spend that much!

Yeah, overheating can be a pain. Make sure your cooling is up to par!

Honestly, you might not need that Ryzen X3D for Blender. It’s great, but for many tasks, a regular Ryzen 7 could do just fine. Maybe look into a motherboard bundle with a good CPU and RAM, and use your existing GPU? It could save you a lot of cash!

That's a solid idea! The prices for parts are crazy right now, though.

Before you upgrade, try examining what causes the crashes. Is it the video card, the power supply, or something else? If it's just those random app crashes, it might be software-related as well. Grab a solid parts bundle and consider swapping just the essentials first. It might be all you need to fix the issues without a full overhaul!

Good point! I should definitely look into what's causing them before buying new parts.
