Is Upgrading to 4K Worth the Cost?

Hey everyone! I've been a PC gamer in the past, rocking an i5 4690k and a 1070ti, but recently I've shifted to PS5 since my PC can't handle modern games the way I want. I'm itching to get back into PC gaming, especially for total war games, so I'm planning to upgrade to a 5070ti along with a 4K monitor. That setup is coming in around £1500. My other option is going with a 5060ti and a 1440p 180Hz monitor for about £900, which I can make work since I have some parts lying around. I'm really torn here! It seems like a lot of money for 4K, but at the same time, I think about the experience I'd get with it versus the 5060ti, which feels more like a slight upgrade over my console. Should I go for the 4K or save some cash and settle for the 1440p? Honestly, I'm super indecisive and could really use some advice on whether 4K is truly worth it!

Honestly, the 5060ti really isn’t as great as it sounds. If you want a solid experience for a bit longer, the 5070ti would be a better choice in the long run. But also think about how much you're really willing to spend for fewer upgrades down the line. Save today and regret it in a few years isn't the greatest strategy!

For gaming specifically, I'd say skip 4K with your budget. You could get a nice 1440p monitor and GPU combo that would give you a great experience without breaking the bank. The performance shouldn’t be overlooked either—1440p is still super satisfying and often gives way better FPS.

Definitely! If you're mostly gaming, 1440p will hold up really well. You can always upgrade to 4K down the road when it's more practical.

I'd wait on the 4K build, honestly. Consider putting that money into savings or investments until the tech improves or prices drop. You might find better deals or options later in the year.

I've been in a similar boat. Honestly, the jump to 4K can be nice, but if you're looking at a 1440p monitor, it’s really not a bad compromise. 1440p can look great and won't crush your graphics card as hard as 4K does. I'd say weigh how much you value the extra detail versus your budget and performance goals.

Agreed! Plus, if you're gaming on something like a 27" screen, 1440p might be the sweet spot. 4K looks awesome, but I think 1440p can still deliver a fantastic experience.
