I'm considering upgrading my CPU to an Intel 14700K as I dive into streaming and game content creation. Currently, I have a 12600K which serves me well, but I've noticed my CPU usage spiking to the mid-70s and even hitting the 80s while playing Baldur's Gate 3 and running OBS with some plugins. I'm curious if upgrading would lower my CPU usage or if I'm worrying too much about the numbers.

Upgrading to the 14700K will technically help with CPU usage, but I wouldn't rush into it just yet. The 14th gen Intel chips have been known to run hot and experience degradation issues, which might not be worth the hassle. Plus, Baldur's Gate 3 is a pretty CPU-demanding game, so high usage is somewhat normal for it. It seems like your current setup is still solid for what you need.
I thought the degradation issues had been addressed with recent BIOS updates? As long as you're getting a new one, it should be fine. But honestly, if your current system is performing well overall, maybe just stick with it for now.
