Is Upgrading to a Ryzen 5 7600x Worth It for Better FPS in Rust?

I'm currently playing Rust at 1080p with an RX 6600 GPU and a Ryzen 5 5500 CPU, along with 16GB DDR4 RAM. Unfortunately, I'm having a hard time maintaining a stable 60 FPS due to my CPU's limitations. I've tried adjusting the game settings, but nothing seems to work. I'm considering upgrading to a Ryzen 5 7600x while keeping my current GPU. Is this a poor choice? If so, what's the impact? Also, I'd love to hear any other CPU upgrade suggestions that might improve my performance!

Definitely upgrade! But before making a decision, what resolution are you playing at?

I'm on 1920x1080 and still having trouble hitting 60 FPS.

Yeah, it could definitely help. Just for reference, I've been getting 80+ FPS in the latest Elder Ring and around 110 FPS in Cyberpunk at 1080p.

You might want to look into the Ryzen 7 5700X3D instead. Rust is pretty CPU-intensive, and that chip would work well for you. Just keep in mind that the Ryzen 5 7700X won't fit your current setup, as it's an AM5 CPU and incompatible with AM4 boards like yours.
