Hey everyone! I'm currently using an RX 6800 graphics card paired with a Ryzen 5 7500F processor. This setup runs most games without any issues. However, I'm thinking about upgrading to the Ryzen 7 7800X3D specifically for one game: Rust. I usually average around 70 to 100 FPS on custom settings, but the game doesn't feel very fluid. I experience some stutters and poor 1% lows, which can ruin the gameplay, especially during chaotic moments with lots of players or big monuments. I'm hoping that the 7800X3D will not only increase my FPS but also help me achieve smoother performance without those frustrating frame drops. Has anyone made a similar upgrade for Rust? Does the 3D V-Cache really help with these issues? I'd love to hear your real-life experiences to see if this investment is justified!

Before upgrading, check your GPU utilization while you’re gaming. If your RX 6800 is maxed out, upgrading the CPU might not drastically affect FPS. But if your CPU is bottlenecking it, then you'll probably benefit a lot from the upgrade. Rust is a game that can particularly take advantage of that extra cache in the 7800X3D, so it might be worth it!

One other option to consider is the 7600X3D, which is about $120 cheaper and still offers impressive performance in gaming. I checked around, but unfortunately, the 7600X3D is either unavailable or priced similarly to the 7800X3D here. Guess I'll go for the 7800X3D!
