I'm upgrading my setup and just swapped out my 3060 for a 5070. However, I feel like my i5 10500 CPU is now holding me back. I was thinking about completely replacing my motherboard for a better CPU, but with the current RAM shortage, I'm tempted to just grab an i9 11900k, which I can find for around £200. Is this a good idea, or are there other options I should consider?

Honestly, I would recommend the 14600k. Upgrading to a CPU on your current platform might not be worth it. It's pricey for not much gain.
I think upgrading to the 11900k is a bad move. It might be too expensive for the slight performance boost you'd get. Consider looking for an AM4 setup like a Ryzen 5500 or 5600x instead.
I’ve got an i9 11900k with a 3080Ti, and while it's a solid combo, a new platform with a latest CPU would be better in the long run. Still, if prices are tight, just selling off the 10500 and getting the i9 might work for now.
Why not consider newer CPUs like the 12600k or 14600k? They're more recent and could give you better performance without the hassle of sticking to an older platform.
How much are you paying for the 11900k? I have a similar setup but with 32GB of RAM, and I'm leaning towards going for a 14700k with a new motherboard because it's cheaper than the 11900k.

Thanks for the insight! I appreciate it and will definitely think it over!
