Is upgrading to an Intel Arc B580 a good move from my old 3050?

Hey everyone! I currently have a Phoenix 3050 in my three-year-old prebuilt rig, and I've been considering an upgrade to an Intel Arc B580 once my card gives out. I mostly play older games at 1080p like the classic Call of Duty series, Skyrim, Minecraft, and Maplestory. I sometimes use two monitors too. I really like the clean look of the B580 and have heard it's a solid budget-friendly GPU. Here are some of my specs for context: Intel i7 14700K, Corsair RM850e, and an NZXT H5 airflow 2024 ATX case. What do you think?

Also, just to add some context: my GPU rarely goes above 50C while I’m casually playing. Is that a good temp for prolonging its lifespan? Not really eager to toss out components that still work. Anyone know if there are places to recycle or trade in old parts?

Absolutely, the B580 will give you a significant performance boost compared to the 3050. Go for it!

Make sure the prebuilt's BIOS allows you to turn on PCIe resizable bar. This could make or break your experience with Intel Arc cards if it's not enabled. Prebuilts can be tricky, so double-check that before you upgrade.

The GPU is from the prebuilt, but I've switched to a new PC with a different motherboard. Should I enable that setting now, or could it cause issues with my current setup?

If you can snag the Intel Arc B580 for a good price, it's definitely a great deal. With 12GB VRAM priced around $250, it should handle all your games smoothly at high FPS on 1080p. Your other specs are pretty solid too, so this upgrade seems totally fine!

The B580 is a solid choice! It's nearly double the performance of your current card. If you’re not reliant on any Nvidia features, then go ahead. The drivers have improved a lot, and you might also want to check the used market for something like an RX 6800 at around $300, if you're willing to hunt for a good deal.

Yeah, I'm not experienced with the used market. What Nvidia features might I be missing? I only use the control panel to update drivers.

Yeah, going for the B580 is a nice upgrade without breaking the bank. It's a smart move.

Thank you for your reassurance!
