Is Upgrading to Claude Max Worth It for Hobby Coding?

I've been using Claude AI for the past few months instead of ChatGPT, and it's been a great experience for coding, even though I'm not a coding expert. With Claude, I've managed to bring my app ideas to life and create some interactive websites. It's amazing to see how I'm learning coding through this process. However, I'm currently subscribed to Claude Pro at $20 a month, and I find it frustrating when I hit token limits during a productive session. I've heard about the Max subscription for $100, which includes something called Claude Code, but I'm unsure about what that entails and whether it would significantly improve my coding experience. I'm just tinkering with my projects for fun alongside my job. Also, I use Visual Studio Code and Claude's prompts, but I often struggle with bugs that seem easy to fix. Is Claude Code any better in handling these situations, or do you have suggestions for optimizing my use of Claude?

If you're looking to get more out of Claude for coding, you might want to check out the Serena MCP server. It does require some setup, but it can offer a better coding environment.

Yeah, I've had similar run-ins with Claude. It’s great for boilerplate coding and writing basic logic, but for anything complex, it seems to struggle. I often find myself coding the tricky parts and delegating the repetitive tasks to Claude, which helps save time!

I've been a fan of Claude too, but honestly, I wouldn't rush into the Max Plan just yet. Many users, myself included, are facing issues with chats cutting off on both Pro and Max subscriptions. It seems like there are some persistent bugs happening. I’d recommend holding off until the developers clarify whether this is a known issue or just a temporary glitch.

Have you given Google Gemini 2.5 Pro a shot? A lot of users claim it’s more effective for coding tasks, especially compared to Claude.
