Hey everyone! I built my PC back in December 2020 with the following specs: an AMD Ryzen 5 5600X, an RTX 3070 with 8GB VRAM, and 32GB of DDR4 RAM. Lately, I've been experiencing performance issues at 1440p on certain games like Monster Hunter Wilds, Avowed, and Oblivion Remastered. I decided to upgrade my GPU to an RTX 5070 when prices dropped below retail in Germany, but it seems my CPU is now the bottleneck. I'm considering upgrading to the Ryzen 7 5700X3D to extend the lifespan of my setup, especially since I'm using the AM4 chipset. Do you think shelling out 218€ (around $246) for this upgrade is worth it?

If I had the chance to upgrade my 5600X to a 5700X3D for $250, I wouldn't hesitate! Sure, it cost me $435, plus I had to upgrade my motherboard and RAM, which made things pricey. But honestly, I think it's worth it for gaming performance—definitely a solid upgrade!

In Germany, the prices for the Ryzen 7 5700X3D often drop to around 200€, which makes it a worth-it upgrade for your setup!

Upgrading can be a mixed bag. The Ryzen X3D CPUs have extra cache, which primarily benefits tasks involving graphics processing. If your integrated GPU is irrelevant, then the benefits might not justify the extra cost for you. Consider looking at higher series CPUs without the X3D tag for better clock rates instead. Just keep in mind, those options might require changing your motherboard and RAM too, which will add to the cost and hassle!

I get that, but upgrading the motherboard and RAM would be even more expensive. I think I'll just wait a couple more years before doing a full build.

That’s not correct. The 5700X3D doesn’t have an integrated GPU. The extra cache helps with performance, but it’s not linked to an iGPU like you mentioned.
