Is upgrading to used PC parts worth the risk?

I'm looking to upgrade my gaming setup. Right now, I have a GTX 1660 Super (6GB) and an Intel i5-9600KF. I came across a seller with a ZOTAC GeForce RTX 2070 OC (8GB) for $100 and an Intel Core i7-9700K for $100 as well. It's my first time buying used parts, so I'm wondering if you think these upgrades are worth it and if there are any risks involved. I'm open to any advice you might have!

Honestly, I don’t think it's worth paying $100 to jump from an i5-9600KF to an i7-9700K. That’s not really a significant upgrade. I’d say focus on the ZOTAC GeForce RTX 2070 OC instead for that price. It’s definitely a big leap from your GTX 1660 Super, which is probably your bottleneck. Just make sure to ask the seller about its history—especially if it was used for mining, which can be a red flag!

That's what I was thinking too! So if I go for the RTX 2070, it should give me a nice boost, right? I’ll definitely check with the seller about its previous uses. He seems legit, but better safe than sorry!

I’ve bought used parts before, like a 3060 Ti for $230 and a whole setup with i5-11600K for $200. I've had no issues after a couple of months! Just keep in mind, buying used is a bit of a gamble, as you never really know how hard they've been used. When I bought my parts, I chatted with the seller about how they were used, and thankfully everything was in great condition. But it can vary a lot, so do your homework!
