Is Using My TV as a Monitor for PC Gaming a Good Idea?

Hey everyone! I've been gaming on my Vizio TV for years with my PS4 and Xbox, and now I'm starting to dive into PC gaming with my Steam Deck and an older laptop that can't handle many new games. I'm planning to buy a gaming PC in the $1700-2000 range with a 5070 Ti, and I'm wondering if my TV will work well as a monitor for couch gaming. Will it perform well enough for that? Thanks for any tips!

Honestly, using a TV as a monitor isn't ideal since they usually have higher latency, but if you’re couch gaming, it might not bother you too much.

My wife has her desktop connected to a 65 inch LG G4 OLED, and she uses a tray table that rolls up to the couch for convenience. With a wireless mouse and keyboard, it works great for her!

Your Vizio TV should be fine for PC use, especially with its low input latency. Just make sure to switch it to 1080p 120Hz mode for gaming, and turn on game mode for the best performance.

I've always used game mode on my PS/Xbox, which disables the post-processing that can add latency. If it works well for those consoles, do you think that means it'll be similar for PC gaming? I'm curious about the latency difference.
