I recently updated VLC Media Player, and during the update, I noticed that a program called Startfenster.de got installed and integrated into my Chrome browser. I managed to uninstall it afterward, but I've been having some weird issues. Earlier today, when I opened a folder, the search bar in the file Explorer suddenly activated on its own, typing out "Startfenster.de," and highlighted all the files in that folder. I restarted my computer and ran a scan with Malwarebytes, which found 21 files labeled as "PUP.Optional.StartFenster." Am I dealing with a virus, and is there a way to fix this without resetting my computer?

Definitely run Malwarebytes again and quarantine all the items you found. It’s good that you spotted PUP.Optional.StartFenster. After you put everything in quarantine, restart your computer to ensure any shady remnants are cleared out. Let me know what happens after that!

Thanks for the advice! I did quarantine them and just ran Malwarebytes again, but it didn’t find anything this time.
