Is Windows Update Safe for My SSD Now?

I've been holding off on updating my laptop's Windows due to concerns about potential SSD failures related to the 24H2 update. I've got a Phison-controlled SSD that's showing over 80% usage, and with my graduation exams coming up, I want to make sure I'm not risking anything. Have the issues been resolved, or should I still be concerned and take care of a firmware update?

I've read that the concern may have been overstated. A lot of the articles cite each other and one single Reddit post, so it seems like there were only a few affected users. Might not be as widespread as it sounds.

We've upgraded 500 computers to Windows 11 24H2 at my workplace, and none of them have had SSD failures even though they're all between 1 to 5 years old. If the issue was serious, we would certainly have seen some problems.

Just make sure your SSD firmware is up to date. The failures were mainly affecting specific Phison SSDs with certain outdated firmware, and updates have been released to fix those issues.
