Is XMP Profile a Dealbreaker for RAM Choices?

I'm thinking about building a PC with a Ryzen 9700X, but I found an incredibly cheap Corsair RAM kit that has 64GB (2x32GB) running at 6000MHz with CL30 latency. The catch is that it doesn't boast an EXPO profile. On the other hand, I can get a 32GB (2x16GB) RAM kit at 6800MHz with CL32 and EXPO for a similar price. I'm curious about how significant the XMP/EXPO profiles are in terms of performance. Is having 64GB with an XMP profile better than having 32GB with an EXPO profile?

The importance of the EXPO/XMP profiles really depends on your needs and motherboard compatibility. You should check which RAM options your motherboard supports. For instance, I have an AMD system that runs XMP perfectly. Just make sure your motherboard includes your RAM kit in its compatibility list, and you might need a BIOS update, but that’s not always necessary.

Got it! So as long as the motherboard is approved for it, the CPU type doesn’t matter for XMP RAM?
