Issues Converting from MBR to GPT for Windows 11 Installation

I tried updating my PC to Windows 11, but I ran into issues after converting my OS drive from MBR to GPT using the command prompt. I then went into BIOS to disable CMS and enable both UEFI and Secure Boot. Unfortunately, after making these changes, my PC got stuck on a loading screen for ten minutes, so I powered it off. I created a recovery USB using Macrium Reflect, as I have a system image backup on my hard drive. However, when I boot the USB, it gets stuck on a page that says 'unlocking BitLocker drives.' This has been ongoing for about 20 minutes now, and I'm unsure what to do next. Also, I'm curious why enabling UEFI didn't work after converting to GPT. My specs are an RTX 2060 and a Ryzen 5 3600 with an ASRock B450M Steel Legend (version 2.90).

It sounds like you’re having a tough time! After switching to GPT and enabling UEFI, some systems can face issues with Secure Boot, especially if BitLocker was enabled. The hanging on 'unlocking BitLocker drives' suggests it’s having trouble accessing the encrypted partition. I recommend temporarily disabling Secure Boot in BIOS and then trying to boot the Macrium USB in UEFI mode, not legacy. Just ensure your USB was made for UEFI booting. If your backup was created under MBR with Legacy support, you might need to fix the boot path after restoring. You're almost there!

When you made the USB recovery, you mentioned the option for multi-boot UEFI/CSM? That’s a good sign! Disabling Secure Boot could help, but remember to only boot in UEFI if possible. If it still hangs, double-check your USB settings and try creating the recovery USB again if needed. Sometimes starting fresh can resolve these stubborn issues!
