I recently upgraded my system and I'm facing a compatibility issue with my components. Here's what I have: a Ryzen 9 9950X3D CPU, a Gigabyte B850 Gaming WiFi 6 motherboard, an RTX 5080 GPU, and Corsair Vengeance RAM (2x16GB DDR5 6000). I've learned that the AM5 platform might not support all four RAM modules at 6000MHz and that I may need to lower the speed for stability. I'm uncertain whether I should keep the 2x16GB setup and return the extra two modules, or if I should return everything and opt for 2x32GB sticks instead. Also, my PC will be used for virtual machines, CAD, video editing, and some occasional VR gaming.

Don't worry too much about it! You can adjust the RAM speed in the BIOS. I had a similar situation with my T-Force RAM when I built my PC; it defaulted to 6000MHz and I just fine-tuned it in the BIOS without any issues. Just be aware you might have to lower the speed a bit for stability if you add more sticks.
That's good to know! But how much of a performance hit can I expect from lowering the speed? I've only recently upgraded from an old laptop and I’m trying to get a handle on this. It's been a decade since I last built a PC!
