I'm facing a frustrating issue while upgrading our machines to Windows 11 24H2 using MECM. After the upgrade, users on domain-joined computers are experiencing a crash when they click their username in the start menu to sign out. Although they can still sign out via right-clicking the start button, it's inconvenient. I've done some testing and discovered that if I upgrade a machine that's not domain-joined, the problem doesn't occur. Has anyone else encountered this problem or have any suggestions for a fix?

I had a similar issue where the sign-out button was acting up after they made changes to the start menu. It magically resolved itself with a monthly update. I noticed others mentioning this problem in patch threads as well, but no one seems to know the exact cause.
I haven't seen this issue myself, but it could be related to fast user switching or sleep/hibernation settings. If nothing else works, try creating a test OU and adding your group policies one by one to isolate the culprit. Good luck!
I haven’t run into this problem specifically. It might be linked to legacy GPOs; we have shortcuts for logout and lock workstation that have been around since 2005!
We had an almost identical issue with hybrid domain computers upgrading to 24H2. Clicking on the account picture to sign out would freeze the start menu, but they fixed it in a recent update.
Do you happen to know the KB number that might have fixed this? We’re managing updates through WSUS and Software Center.
We’ve been facing the same annoying issue! The workaround for us is to cancel the sign-out popup, then power down from the start menu, and it logs in fine after that. Thankfully, this problem didn’t appear when we upgraded to Windows 11.
Yeah, I remember some complaints about that too, but I think it's domain or GPO-related. My laptop that started with 23H2 hasn't had any issues.
