Just Built a High-End PC, but Performance Is Lacking – Help!

Hey everyone, I recently completed an impressive PC build with some high-end components including an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K 3.7 GHz 24-Core Processor and 128 GB of DDR5 RAM. I also have a powerful MSI SHADOW 3X OC GeForce RTX 5080 graphics card. However, I'm really disappointed with the performance. For instance, in CS2, my FPS is capped at about 120 even in the menus, and sometimes it dips lower. Plus, Adobe Audition and Premiere seem sluggish, and even File Explorer isn't as fast as it should be. I've checked that the RAM is recognized and everything is plugged in correctly, and the GPU temp is normal according to Open Hardware Monitor. I believe all the drivers are installed too. Any suggestions on how I can troubleshoot this issue?

Try using HWinfo to monitor your processes; you might find something that's slowing things down. Also, check the Event Viewer for any warnings related to system performance.

Have you installed all the motherboard drivers? Also, what speed is your RAM running at? Oh, and make sure your display is connected to the GPU and not the motherboard.

I found out that the RAM is actually running at 4800 MHz instead of the expected 6400 MHz... And yes, the display is connected to the GPU via DisplayPort.

Are you calculating performance based on the FPS in the game menu?

Well, sort of. I should be getting higher FPS in-game, plus the overall system feels slow, not just in CS2. The cap is set higher than what I'm actually achieving.
