Hey everyone! I stumbled upon a folder labeled 'Quasar' in my custom software directory, but I don't recall installing anything by that name. Inside, I found just a .msi installer, which I deleted without issue. When I tried to look up 'Quasar software' online, the results were all over the place, mentioning remote access tools and even something called a remote access trojan. I haven't noticed any strange behavior on my PC lately, and I didn't check how old the folder was before I removed it. Has anyone else encountered this? What steps should I take to ensure my system is safe?

It sounds like you might have found QuasarRAT, which is a remote access trojan. It can let someone else gain control of your computer. If you can, check your task manager for anything named quasar-helper or quasar-server in the services section.
If you didn't find any 'quasar' entries in the task manager, that's a good sign! But still, I’d recommend doing a full antivirus scan just to be safe. You can never be too careful with unknown software.
Definitely run a scan with MalwareBytes or Windows Defender in offline mode. Trust me, manually removing QuasarRAT is a headache and it can return if you miss any part of it. Better to get a dedicated antivirus to clean it up!
