I'm switching from Windows to Linux and am trying to choose between Kubuntu and Fedora KDE Plasma. I want to customize the desktop extensively and use the system for gaming, but I'm still a beginner. I've heard Kubuntu may be more beginner-friendly, while Fedora KDE might be better for someone willing to learn and keep up with newer software. Which would be the better fit, and what are the practical differences I should consider?

I use Kubuntu and have been happy with it, so you won’t necessarily go wrong there. However, Fedora KDE can be appealing for gaming because it tends to ship newer KDE versions and graphics drivers sooner. The trade-off is that newer drivers can occasionally introduce bugs, so being ahead of the updates isn’t always an advantage.
Fedora KDE should give you plenty of room to customize while also providing relatively current KDE releases and hardware support. If you’re willing to learn as you go, it’s a solid choice rather than something you’ll quickly outgrow.
Kubuntu is generally a comfortable starting point if you want a setup that requires less troubleshooting. Fedora KDE may offer newer software and a more current desktop stack, but it can sometimes require you to understand a few more Linux-specific details. Neither is a bad choice, and both can be customized heavily.
