Laptop Screen is Black but the Cursor is Visible – What Can I Do?

I'm having an issue with my laptop where I only see a black screen with the cursor when I try to log in. I'm not really tech-savvy, so I'm not sure what went wrong. I use an external monitor because the laptop's LCD is broken, and earlier I somehow got past the black screen, but the external monitor started to zoom in and out randomly. Eventually, it went black again. Can anyone suggest what I should try to fix this?

This seems to be a Windows boot issue. Here are some quick fixes you can try:

1. Press **Ctrl + Alt + Delete**; sometimes this can wake the system up.
2. Use **Ctrl + Shift + Esc** to see if you can access the Task Manager.
3. Try pressing **Windows key + P**, then hitting the Down arrow and **Enter** to reset your display settings.
4. If all else fails, use **Windows key + Ctrl + Shift + B** to restart your graphics driver. Let us know if any of these work for you!

If those don’t help, you might want to check for any hardware issues or consider updating your graphics drivers!
