I'm involved with a charity that currently has 3 PCs but plans to expand soon. I'd love to manage these PCs remotely, which means I need options for installing applications, accessing remote desktops, and managing user accounts. Right now, I'm using Google Credential Provider for Windows for user accounts, but Microsoft Intune isn't suitable because we only use Google Workspace and not Active Directory. Ideally, I'm looking for a free, open-source, and self-hosted solution. It doesn't need to be accessible over the internet since I already have Tailscale set up. If I'm in the wrong place to ask this, please let me know!

Just a heads up, self-hosting can complicate things a bit, especially with on-prem equipment. If you're looking for something simpler, I’d still recommend Action1. It fits many basic management needs without getting too complicated.
You might want to check out Action1. It's not a complete package, but it covers some basic needs and has a free edition. It's what I use for my side hustle and it's decent for scripting, patching, and remote access.
You could also consider Mesh Central. It has good remote management tools and could be suitable for your situation.
For open-source and self-hosted solutions, look into TacticalRMM. It’s gaining traction and could meet your remote management needs.
If you're willing to explore alternatives, I've heard that TacticalRMM and Miradore are worth a shot. They can cater to remote management as well. Additionally, non-profits can sometimes access Business Premium licenses from Microsoft for free, which includes Intune if you're open to that route.
I've tried Action1 too, and while it's not perfect, it works well for straightforward management tasks.
