I'm using a B550 Tomahawk motherboard with both M.2 ports occupied by data and games. Currently, I'm running Windows 10 on a Samsung Evo 870 SATA 3 SSD that's around 7-8 years old and only has 120GB capacity. I'm planning to do a fresh Windows 11 install on a new SSD early next year. I'm curious to know what the best options are, as I've noticed that the main SATA 3 choices seem to include the 870 Evo, the discontinued Crucial MX500 which is getting hard to find, and the Crucial BX500 which isn't recommended for operating systems. I would primarily use this new SSD for the OS and a few essential programs. Any suggestions?

If you're asking me, I'd opt for the Samsung 870 EVO as well. It's one of the best-reviewed SATA SSDs out there. Though, I have to say, if you can swing it, consider running your OS off an NVMe drive instead. The speed difference is substantial, especially for the OS, while games can comfortably reside on a quality SATA SSD.
Samsung's SATA SSDs are pretty much the go-to choice these days. The 870 EVO is one of the most recommended SATA SSDs on the market right now.

Thanks everyone!
