Looking for a Simple Text Editor That’s Not for Coders

Hey everyone! I'm on the hunt for a text editor that's super straightforward and distraction-free—perfect for quick notes and things that don't really need the complexity of something like Joplin. So far, everything I've tried is way too complicated, aimed at developers with features like line numbers, big margins, tricky keybindings, and bulky toolbars. Honestly, I just want something basic like the default Notepad on Windows. Is there anything out there like that?

For my setup, I typically switch between Mousepad and Featherpad, depending on my distro!

Featherpad could work for you as well. It’s lightweight and easy to use!

If you're looking for options, there's also nano, micro, and kwrite to consider. They’re all pretty straightforward too!

I also recommend the gnome text editor—it's quite user-friendly and not overly complicated.
