Looking for a Video Converter That Preserves Quality During Format Change

Is there a video converter available that can change a video's format without any loss of quality? I'm familiar with a Windows tool called xmedia recode that does just that and saves time by not actually converting the video, just copying it to another format. Is there something similar for other operating systems?

What about using Handbrake? It's quite popular, but it does involve converting the video rather than just changing containers, so be aware of potential quality changes.

You might want to look into MKVToolNix. It allows you to copy videos into different containers without losing quality. Just remember that the conversion type you're looking for means switching containers, not codecs, for it to be truly lossless.

Have you checked out FFmpeg? It's a powerful tool that can handle this kind of task pretty smoothly. Just keep in mind that it might take a little while to get used to the command line if you're not familiar with it.
